Jonathan Beach has over 35 years of experience in reinsurance.
In 1988, Jonathan set up Beach & Associates Ltd and continues to be involved in all aspects of Beach & Associates' activities.
Michel de Lecq Marguerie
Deputy Chairman
Michel de Lecq Marguerie has over 26 years of experience in the reinsurance industry.
In 1996 Michel moved to Toronto to join Beach and is currently Beach's Deputy Chairman and Principal of the company. He is involved in all aspects of Beach & Associates activities.
John Cartwright
Chief Operating Officer
John Cartwright is a chartered accountant and joined Beach in 2003 as a Principal and Chief Operating Officer.
John is responsible for global claims, wordings, finance, treasury, IT and human resources.
Simon Hedley
President of Beach Re Ltd. — New York
Simon Hedley has over 25 years of experience in the reinsurance industry, servicing the North American, London and Asia-Pacific insurance markets. Simon's major area of expertise and experience includes reinsurance broking & underwriting of long tail and specialty property classes and the design, placement and management of large and complex reinsurance programs. Simon is involved in all aspects of our USA operation.
Simon Cloney
Managing Director — Sydney
Simon Cloney brings 25 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, servicing the North American, London and Australian insurance markets. Simon's major area of expertise and experience includes property catastrophe, retrocession, aviation and satellite reinsurance. Since 2002 Simon has worked at the convergence of capital markets and reinsurance.
Simon joined Beach in 2005, and is involved in all aspects of our Sydney operation.
Clark Hontz
President — Bermuda
Clark Hontz has over 27 years of experience in the industry and prior to joining Beach in 2009 as the President of our Bermudian operations held the position of Vice Chairman of Reinsurance Division at Max Bermuda Ltd.. Clark has also served as the Director of Max Bermuda Ltd.
Clark is involved in all aspects of our Bermudian operation.
Nigel Dane
Managing Director — London
Nigel Dane is Managing Director of the London Office and has over 30 years of experience and specializes in broking long tail classes and the design and management of large and complex reinsurance programs.
Nigel is involved in all aspects of our London operation.
Adam Hedley
Senior Vice President, Global Broking — London
Adam has 24 years in the reinsurance industry, and joined Beach in 2003 after obtaining his MBA from University of New South Wales / Sydney University. Adam is instrumental in securing capital and reinsurance participations, in addition to growing Beach London’s book of business.
Chris Peters
Senior Vice President — New York
Chris joined Beach Re's New York office in 2008 and has over 35 years of experience in the Insurance/Reinsurance industry. Chris began his Reinsurance career in 1981 as a casualty underwriter and began his broking career in 1987. He has focused exclusively in the Programs area since 1996 and in this capacity has worked with a myriad of MGA's/MGU's, Programs Administrators and Specialty Insurance Companies.
Bob Whitney
Senior Vice President
Bob has spent more than 28 years experience working in the New York and London reinsurance markets. Bob's area of focus has been the production and placement of a wide variety of classes including Property Risk, Property Cat and Retro, as well as Specialty Casualty, Marine and Aviation and Industry Loss Warranty reinsurance.
Matt Wolfe
Senior Vice President — Toronto
Matt Wolfe began his insurance career in Toronto in 1997 as an Underwriter with Kingsway Insurance.
In 2001 Matt joined Beach & Associates as a reinsurance broker and since then has been instrumental in the continued growth of Beach by securing new clients in both Canada and the United States.
Michael Buckingham
Senior Vice President — Toronto
Michael has almost 30 years experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry and has worked with Beach since 1991. Michael began his career in 1981 in London and since joining Beach, Michael has been dedicated to managing our larger clients, and specializes in Casualty placements.
Rob Johnson
Consulting Chief Actuary
Through ROBIS Consulting PTY Ltd., Rob Johnson brings over 30 years of experience in consulting for insurance portfolio management issues / reinsurance and related actuarial / exposure analysis to Beach. A former Chief Underwriting officer for a reinsurance company and director of an insurance/ reinsurance consulting company, Rob is also an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries (London), an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, a Certified Practicing Accountant, and a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
Larry Johnsen
Senior Vice President, Esq., CPCU, ARe Global Head of Contracts — New York
Larry was called to the New York State bar in 1978 and since then has had a distinguished career in the reinsurance broking industry in claims, contract wordings and as general counsel. Prior to joining Beach, Larry was a Managing Director at Guy Carpenter in New York, responsible for managing contract wordings, negotiating difficult wordings, claims and commutations, and monitoring industry and regulatory developments.
Larry served for five years as the Chairman of the BRMA wordings committee, is a certified arbitrator at ARIAS and taught the Advanced Reinsurance Course at the College of Insurance.
